An Overview of the Services
We will be offering two services, one that Tracks your animal or equipment and one that Watches.
Each Service will:
- allow you to set up and change the monitoring zone.
- track the location of your animal or equipment.
- alert you if your animal or equipment is outside the monitoring zone.
- allow you to view the location of your animal or equipment on your web site.
- alert you if the tracking unit does not move.
- warn you about a low battery charge.
- allow you to track your animal or equipment for at least three hours(to be confirmed during testing) on your web site when it is outside the monitoring zone .
The main difference is that the Track service is more feature rich than the Watch service:
- The Track service tracks the position every 2 minutes whereas in the Watch service the location is tracked every 5 minutes.
- In the Track service, the location is sent back to the host computer every 2 minutes and updated onto your web site. In the Watch service, this is every 3 hours unless of course your animal or equipment is outside the monitoring zone.
By differentiating the services in this way, we have been able to extend the battery life. The Track service being more feature rich uses more power more quickly and the battery will require changing every day. The Watch service uses the same power but over a far longer period and we expect that you will need to change the battery every 3 months (to be confirmed in testing).
Whilst both services are available for both animals and equipment, we expect the Track service to be used mainly for animals and the Watch service for equipment.
We shall supply with each order for each service, the tracking unit, the pouch to put the tracking unit in, a collar for putting around the animal and a spare battery and charger.
